一、 教材简介 本册教材遵循“话题、功能、任务”的模式, 包含12个单元,每个单元3课,另加2个评价, 共38课。内容贴近生活实际,富趣味性,难度适中。教材内容从听说入手,逐步向读写展开,特别是有关阅读理解、选词填空和书写的训练比较符合小学高年级英语教学“听、说、读、写”全面发展的要求。
本册教材共每个单元主要由Look, listen and act---Listen and say--Activity1,2--Listen and read--Activity 3--Read and write(re-structure)--Read and spell-Activity 4(chant/song)几个板块组成。覆盖了8个话题,它们是:FAMILY MEMBERS(Unit 1); DIRECTIONS(Unit 2, Unit 8);Working places(Unit 3); FOOD(Unit 4, Unit 5); Hurt(Unit 6)and Illness(Unit 7); Sports and activities(Unit 9, Unit 10); Date and Month (Unit 11, Unit 12).教师可以按照课本的排列顺序,按部就班地逐课进行教学,也可以打乱单元内各课的顺序进行教学,只要教师教学方便,学生愿意学,在规定的时间内掌握本单元的内容即可。

2. Finding the family members
给学生分发纸片, 通过自由寻找与交流(Eg: Excuse me, what’s your name, please? How old are you? Thank you! ), 找到自己的家庭成员并填好他们的信息。
例如几个不同家庭之一的White 一家的家庭成员的卡片可以设计如下:
一定时间完成任务后,一个大家族上台,分别/个别介绍自己的家庭成员。

我们可以用自然拼音法来训练学生,加强他们拼读单词的能力,提高他们的自学能力以及科学记忆、联想的能力, 降低单词学习的难度。
5.任务TASKS:

2. An antonym match:
教师将已学过的反义词和本课的四个方位词一起列出, 让学生预先复习至熟练, 然后再
分组对抗比赛。A组的a同学说出其中一个单词, B组的b同学说出其反义词。 然后由B组的b同学说一个词, 由A组的a同学说出其反义词,如此轮换下去,评出胜利组。
也可以让该组内学生积极抢答的方式。
老师们可以参考的反义词:

教学建议:
坚持以自然环境教学为主的课堂教学原则
儿童心理语言学家认为,对于语言学习,儿童处在一种极其开放、变通的状态,接受所输入语言的速度快、程度高。因此,小学英语课堂内要坚持以自然环境教学为主的课堂教学原则,力争为学生创造一种自然宽松的语言学习环境。以赏识、鼓励的态度来对待不同差异的学生。
注重培养学习兴趣的教学原则
小学英语教学应当把培养学生学习英语的兴趣放在首位,寓教于乐。要采取生动活泼的教学方法和手段,通过说、唱、动、游戏等方式使学生积极、主动、大胆、愉快地参与教学活动。需要指出的是,从小学低年级到高年级,英语教学中应该逐渐由动作、唱歌引起的低层次兴趣逐渐向高层次的兴趣发展,从使学生身体部位的具体动作到减少具体动作逐渐向动脑发展。这就要求我们教师要激发学生的求知欲,还要培养他们的学习成就感,这样才能使他们的低级兴趣转化为高层次的兴趣。
三、坚持教学内容相对开放的教学原则
在教学中,不要过分拘泥于教材所规定的语言知识,如词汇、语法范围之内。教师可以根据教学实际和学生的兴趣对教学内容有所调整,有所扩展,使教学内容相对开放。课堂上要根据教学实际,适当增加儿童感兴趣的内容,这不仅可以充分调动学生学习的积极性,活跃课堂气氛,还可以扩展学生的思维,培养学生积极思考的习惯。
坚持培养学生用语言进行实际交际能力的原则
言语教学的最终目的在于培养学生语言的真实交际能力。在缺乏英语语言环境的情况下,课堂就成为培养学生真实交际能力的主要场所。因此,在英语课堂不能只进行课堂交际,教师要设法将所教授的语言知识发展到真实交际,尽量给学生提供进行真实交际的机会。
四、注重中外文化背景知识的介绍和中外文化差异知识的讲授。
